The New Parkrose Life!

February 16, 2022 by Bryan Atkinson 2 Comments

New year, new look, and new business!

I started Parkrose Life in April 2019 wanting to tell stories of neighbors doing positive, often unnoticed, things for our community along with sharing a few insights and resources so that people living here or considering moving here would be inspired to relationally join in. My second goal was to create a hub where people interested in buying a home here or needing to sell a home could learn what makes this area special and connect with me about their real estate needs.

Almost three years later, those desires have only increased, and my vision has become even more clear for what Parkrose Life can be!

Let me give you a snapshot of what I’ve been up to so far. In 2020 and 2021, I put out 10 episodes of the Parkrose Life podcast featuring people who serve our community or who gave special insight into this place. Before that, I interviewed seven people who ran for city council or Parkrose School Board. I’ve posted resource lists, a take-out food guide when the pandemic began, a couple of business spotlights, and even a travel guide for anyone visiting our area. We have all sorts of real estate insight and houses currently for sale featured as well as neighborhood guides (click around the top menu and explore!).

Recently freelance writer Rob Cullivan (formerly with Gresham Outlook among other publications) began writing for Parkrose Life, so the quality and consistency of our stories will soar! Producer Andru Morgan and I just published the first episode of season 2 of the podcast with more guests coming soon.

Logo transformation!

To reflect all these improvements, I wanted to refresh the logo. I designed the first logo on Canva by myself, so I was proud of it given that I’m not skilled in any visual arts. Over time I started thinking it was flat and that the colors weren’t as joyful as I’d like to project. I wanted the fonts to tie into the rural farming community of Parkrose’s past (“Parkrose” script text) as well as the midcentury housing development that came to much of the area (“LIFE” text). My other idea was to add some texture to the ticket design, which was beyond my skill level. My new friend Nate Smith took on the project, and he also came up with adding a second ticket, which I think gives depth and also implies that life is meant to be lived together! Finally, we tried a few colors out, and I landed on slight tweaks that brighten the look and feel more “me” while not departing too much from the previous color scheme.

Parkrose Life Real Estate Team

Twenty twenty-two is the year that’ll mark my eighth year as a real estate agent and the year I am working to expand from being a solo Realtor to a leader of a team of agents and staff! Working as a locally-based team will enable us to help even more people buy and sell homes in our community. I’d love for the Parkrose Life real estate team to be the go-to resource whenever someone needs to move away, is ready to put down roots, or needs a connection to a contractor or resource.

I’m thankful for the success I’ve had so far and am motivated to help other people (whether brand new or seasoned agents) thrive in their real estate careers. I’ll enjoy tapping into my experience working in education for seven years before real estate as I train other agents. If you’d like to begin a conversation about working on the team or want to explore if real estate is a good fit for you, please get in touch! And if you might know someone who’d be a great Realtor or who already is licensed who might be interested, I’d love a name drop or personal introduction.

Connecting and supporting

If you’re a Parkrose enthusiast like me or a fan of Parkrose Life, I’d love for you to share that with your neighbors and friends in the area! You might send them the podcast information or a link to your favorite story or page on this website (or this post!). If you’ve been clicking around or listening but we haven’t had a chance to meet yet, please do feel welcome to comment on this post or write me a message to say hi and share any ideas or questions!
